Top 10 Foods You Should Eat

Here is a list of the top 10 foods I think you should eat. This is based on numerous different stuff I have read. Way to much to list here. You can do a quick search on Google on “Foods you should eat” to find all the references. However, trust me, these foods have a lengthy list of quality science behind that allows them to qualify for the list. I think as you read this list the foods that are on it will make sense to you.

1. Tomatoes – Tomatoes contain lycopene, probably the most powerful anti-oxidant among the carotenoids. It’s released from tomatoes by cooking them.

2. Spinach – Spinach is loaded with iron and folate, a B vitamin considered so import that it is now routinely added to flour.

3. Nuts – The fats found in nuts are the good fats. Nuts lower blood levels of triglycerides and LDL (Bad) cholesterol.

4. Red Wine – The grape skins contain a super-charged anti-oxidant known as polypenois, which boosts HDL (Good) cholesterol.

5. Broccoli – Has loads of phytochemical including sulforaphane and indole-3-carbinol, which may detoxify cancer-causing substances before they can harm you.

6. Salmon – Omega-3′s prevent platelets in the blood from clumping together and sticking to the arterial walls in the form of plaque.

7. Oats – Cooked porridge, oats can help lower cholesterol. They contain beta-glucan, a spongy, soluble fire that mops up the precursors of cholesterol.

8. Garlic - Scientists agree that allyl sulphides and other phytochemicals in garlic may help protect the heart.

9. Green Tea – Loaded with polypenois, a class of phytochemicals with 100 times the antioxidant punch of vitamin C.

10. Blueberries – The most powerful health-promoting compounds are anthocyanins, phytochemicals that belong to the flavonoid family. Besides combating the free-radical damage linked to heart disease and cancer, anthocyanins may boost brainpower.

So that is ten foods that we think you should probably add to your diet.

    Is there a substitute for nuts for those people who are allergic (or have food allergies in the house?)

    I don’t know of a substitute for nuts. I would simply eat more of the other foods on the lists if nuts are not an option.

    yikes.. I don’t like #1,6, or 10.. I also don’t drink.. so count #4 too!

    OK, I have heard of people that do not like Tomatoes or Salmon….but blueberries! Everybody likes blueberries.

    Oh well…pass the Broccoli!
