Cheaper than a personal trainer, with the added benefit that you can switch Miilife off it you need a rest, this software comes with an activity-monitoring wrist strap and weighing scales. There is a monthly subscription fee and online coaching is included.
Wii Fit
have fun and get fit – if ow or someone in your family alert has a Nintendo Wii games console, this is the best way to get exercise without going out in the cold. It comes with a board that you step and jog on as part of a game. It’s great fun for family members of all ages and cost is around $50 for the game.
Apple iPhone 3GS
New navigation hardware on the 3GS bring the iPhone into its own as a way finding device and its huge choice of exercise apps is a big draw. Built-in Nike+ support means you only need to buy the Nike+ iPod sensor to record your run. Contract and pay-as-you-go options are available.
Map My Run
This free service allows you to draw a route on a map and will calculate its length, allowing you to measure your pace.
Polar F4
Heart rate monitors can be found for as little as $20, but its best to pay a little more for one with a “coded” transmitter to prevent interference from other monitors being used nearby. Polar’s F4 can be found at a pretty affordable price and can be used to track the amount of time your heart rate is raised to a certain level.
